Tree and Plant Breeding Project
September 16, 2022

We are developing resilient, regionally adapted varieties of garlic, pawpaw, figs, and other crops to enhance food security and ecological diversity. By selectively breeding plants suited to our local climate and soil conditions, we aim to create sustainable, high-yielding cultivars for permaculture systems.
Project Goals
- Develop regionally adapted crop varieties
- Enhance food security
- Increase ecological diversity
- Create sustainable cultivars
Implementation
Our breeding program focuses on:
- Garlic varieties
- Pawpaw trees
- Fig trees
- Other regionally appropriate crops
Impact
This project supports our Mother Garden and provides resources for community growers. By developing plants that are well-suited to our local conditions, we’re creating a more resilient and sustainable food system.
